Jesus said: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live forever; …he who eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood has eternal life and…. abides in me, and I in him” (Jn. 6: 51, 54, and 56).
“Take this and eat it, all of you”: The Lord invites us to prepare ourselves for this great and holy moment and to receive the Eucharist.
Sacrament of Penance & Reconciliation
Sin is before all else an offense against God, a rupture of communion with him. At the same time it damages communion with the Church. For this reason conversion entails both God’s forgiveness and reconciliation with the Church, which are expressed and accomplished liturgically by the sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation. Preparation for Confirmation should aim at leading the Christian toward a more intimate union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit – his actions, his gifts, and his biddings – in order to be more capable of assuming the apostolic responsibilities of Christian life. To this end catechesis for Confirmation should strive to awaken a sense of belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ, the universal Church as well as the parish community the latter bears special responsibility for the preparation of confirmands.
