In accordance with the bishops of the United States and the requirements of the Diocese of Fresno, all Parish volunteers must have Safe Environment training and those in contact with children in their ministry (Religious Education, childcare, youth groups, chaperones Etc.) must also have fingerprints done though the Diocese of Fresno. Our 2015-2018 Safe Environment cycle has come to an end. The Diocese of Fresno is asking that all Parish volunteers begin to renew 2018-2021 Safe Environment training. The renewal began March 9, 2018. Those who take the course after March 9, 2018 do not need to take it again until 2021. The Diocese of Fresno has put in place a more accessible program done via the internet called Safe and Sacred, is available for free to all parish volunteers but if anyone would like to donate $5.00 towards the monthly cost of the program, it would greatly be appreciated. As Catholics, we are a people who safeguard our greatest treasure—our children—and this course increases our awareness and ability to prevent and protect children from abuse. To log in, go to https://safeandsacred-fresno.org. Click “Create new account” to register. When completing the registration fields, choose “Church – Our Lady of Guadalupe, Bakersfield” and select “Parish volunteer” for registration; then click “Create my new account.” Finally, click “Continue” to confirm your account and enter the training site it will then give you the class you need to take. Unfortunately there will be no more live training. If you do not have access to a computer there will be a signup sheet in the Parish office for computer use. If you have any questions please email gloria@guadalupebakersfield.org.

Thank you and God Bless
